SPRING WORKSHOPS 2007This one-day writing workshop is designed to give aspiring writers a thorough overview of the process required to write a children’s book text, from conception of the idea to submission to publishers. Spring workshops run from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

When Marlo and Dr. Virginia Lowe agree that your manuscript is ready for submission to a publisher, we may offer you a letter of recommendation. A letter of recommendation is not a guarantee of publication, but it is one of the few ways to get your manuscript out of the slush pile and into the hands of an editor at a publishing house. Please note that a letter of recommendation will incur an extra charge, and will only be provided at the discretion of Create a kids’book USA. For submissions from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom etc., please visit our manuscript assessments page.We quote a turnaround time of six weeks, as demand can be high; however, in most cases manuscript critiques will be returned to you within three weeks. We prefer email submissions, with your manuscript saved as a Word document. If submitting your manuscript via post, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) for return of your manuscript. Payment is required at the time of submission. Marlo Garnsworthy, a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), is an editor, author and artist who has spent many years learning the craft of writing. Aspiring authors will find her experience and advice invaluable.
It has been Marlo’s dream to write and illustrate children’s books since childhood, and she has been active in book creation and editing since 1996. Marlo is the author of two children’s chapter books being published by McGraw-Hill, Dr Seuss, A Biography and Let’s Visit a Planetarium. Marlo has exhibited and sold her artwork in the USA, Japan and her native Australia. Marlo works in watercolor, oils, acrylics, pencil and mixed media. She is currently studying Children’s Book Illustration at The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
